Environmental Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is a key theme of the Victorian Government’s Helping Victoria Grow: Extractive Resources Strategy.
The extractive resources industry can play its part in improving Victoria’s environment through the sustainable development of resources, reducing demand on virgin extractive resources through the use of recycled products, and helping achieve the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We aim to support industry to be recognised as leaders in environmental sustainability.
Helping Victoria Grow: recycling in construction
We support the extractives sector in reducing waste, maximising reuse and playing a role in materials recycling where feasible.
We have developed an action plan to promote the reuse and recycling of construction materials to supplement the important raw materials that Victoria’s quarries provide. This action plan is outlined in the brochure available to download below, Helping Victoria Grow: recycling in construction.
