The Code of Practice for Mineral Exploration has been varied under section 89E of the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990, to reflect the amended definition of low impact exploration, which came into effect on 1 November 2014.

Please note:
Hydraulic fracturing – or fracking – is permanently banned in Victoria under the Constitution Amendment (Fracking Ban) Act 2021 and is an offence under Section 16A of the Petroleum Act 1998.

All references to hydraulic fracturing in the Code of Practice for Mineral Exploration should be disregarded.
