To help unlock Victoria’s resource potential and reduce requirements to industry, the Earth Resources Regulator is wavering the need for licensees to progressively reduce their exploration area.

Between 1 April 2024 until 30 June 2025 the waiver will automatically be granted to licensees meeting their licence requirements.

Licensees who fail to deliver their obligations will still be required to progressively relinquish land over the course of their licence, as outlined in Section 38A of the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990.

The Earth Resources Regulator encourages licensees to ensure they are up to date with all the requirements of their work plan, including submission of annual reports, payment of fees and rent.

Licensees requiring additional information about the waiver or their program of work are encouraged to reach out to the Earth Resources Regulator at errfeedback@deeca.vic.gov.au.
