As the festive season approaches, Resources Victoria has stopped accepting new minerals licence applications.

As the festive season approaches, Resources Victoria has paused accepting new minerals licence applications for the remainder of 2025.

It is important that everyone has a fair opportunity to view and comment on licence applications.

The temporary pause ensures the public comment period for licence applications does not occur at a time when many community members are unable to provide input.

During the temporary pause, explorers can still stake their claim for an area, but their applications will not be accepted until the pause ends on Monday 5 January 2026.

Renewal applications and variations to existing licences will continue as normal.
