Victoria’s onshore wells were created to provide gas, but none are currently producing any fuel.

The update reflects contemporary best-practice standards relevant to the state’s geology and improves the technical requirements protecting the community and environment.

The update follows a comprehensive review of the petroleum sector, including stakeholder engagement, and contains practical guidance on how to minimise and manage risks associated with onshore petroleum wells.
