The recommendations from the Getting the Groundwork Right: Better regulation of mines and quarries report has been completed, with several of the resulting projects and initiatives continuing to improve practice within Earth Resources Regulation.

The closure report addresses the actions and recommendations contained in the Getting the Groundwork Right, as well as the Implementation Plan and the two periodic reviews undertaken by the Commissioner for Better Regulation.

Engagement with the resources industry will continue through workshops, forums, and the further development of guidelines. Processes and procedures will continue to be refined through regulatory practice improvements, the development of a new regulatory management system and cooperation with other regulators.
